Undergraduate Open Days
Choosing the right university is a really important decision. You’ll often hear students saying that their university ‘just felt right’ for them - and that’s something you can only experience by visiting in person.
Our main open days for 2020 entry have now finished, but there are still plenty of ways to explore our campus and get a feel for university life.
If you’re an applicant or offer holder, look out for more information about our Applicant Visit Days, which are coming soon. In the meantime, our next events take place in December 2019 and January 2020. Find out more about your next opportunities to visit.
Being Creative at Salford
Discover the range of courses we offer in the creative industries at Being Creative at Salford on Wednesday 11 December.
Whether you’re interested in studying at the University of Salford or are a teacher or careers adviser, join us to learn more about our courses in architecture, art and design, creative writing, English, fashion, media, music, performance and more.
You’ll also get to hear from our alumni and staff, who’ll be talking about the careers an arts degree can lead to.
Finally, we’re delighted to be joined by our Chancellor, Professor Jackie Kay, MBE, who’ll be welcoming audiences at this event.
Our campus tours are a great way for you to explore our university and get a feel for our buildings, outdoor space, on-site accommodation and what it's really like to be a student here at Salford.
We're running guided campus tours throughout December 2019 and January 2020. Click here to book your place.
If you don’t want to wait for an official guided tour, why not take a self-guided tour using this specially created map. The map is designed to help you navigate your way around our Peel Park and Frederick Road campuses at your own pace. Please note, you won't be able to access any of our facilities during self-guided tours.
How to get here
We are located just 2km from Manchester city centre and consequently have great transport links, regardless of whether you’re travelling from across Greater Manchester, across the UK or from further afield. This includes a train station located on campus and several bus routes into the city centre.
Closer to the day, we'll let you know where you need to check-in when you get here and suggest which car park is best to use if you are driving.
If you're planning to visit our MediaCityUK campus, the journey takes approximately 15 minutes by bus from our main campus. You'll be able to use the free shuttle bus service we provide between our main campus and MediaCityUK. The closest car park to our main campus is Irwell Place.
Please be aware that we do not have any parking available at MediaCityUK, so if you choose to drive here, you will need to pay to park.
Getting around campus
We know being in a new place can be a bit overwhelming, so we’ll point you in the right direction when you book a place on one of our events.
A couple of weeks before the event, we’ll provide you with information on which check-in point to attend when you arrive, to ensure you’re as close to your course session as possible.
If at any point you’re struggling to find your way around while you’re here, our Student Ambassadors (sporting red t-shirts) will be all over campus and are happy to help you get your bearings.
Make yourself at home in our city
If after the Open Day you want to get a feel for the city and its surrounding areas, there are plenty of things to see and do whilst you’re here.
The City of Salford is in the heart of Greater Manchester, with the University of Salford's main campus just 2km from Manchester city centre.
You’ll be just a short walk or bus ride from world-class music, sport, nightlife, food, shopping and culture, and you’ll also be joining one of the largest student communities in Europe, with around 100,000 students in total across Greater Manchester. It’s one of the most vibrant and diverse cities in the UK, with people from all backgrounds and countries coming here to live and study.
We’ve got a lot to boast about, so here’s a quick overview of why we love Salford and Manchester:
