I've applied - what happens next?
Track your application
The simplest way to monitor the progress of your application is via UCAS Track, which updates your application status as soon as any changes occur. If you have any questions about your application, there are a number of ways for you to contact UCAS. You can also speak to our admissions team on email@example.com or +44 (0)161 295 4545.
Receiving an offer to study with us
There are two types of offer you can receive: an unconditional or a conditional offer.
If you receive an unconditional offer from us and then decide to choose us as your firm choice, the place is yours – you’ll be joining the University of Salford!
If you receive a conditional offer from us and then decide to choose us as your firm choice, the place is yours provided you meet the specific conditions of your offer. You will be able to see these conditions on UCAS Track. It’s really important that you satisfy all the conditions of your offer, not just those that relate to your academic grades.
A few examples of the types of conditions you might have to meet include:
- Achieving 120 UCAS points or 3 Grade Bs in your A-levels;
- Producing your GCSE certificates for Maths and English;
- Producing a portfolio of work;
- Paying a tuition fee deposit.
If you’re unsure, you can check this with our admissions team by calling +44 (0)161 295 4545 (choose option 3). It’s really important that each of your conditions are met, so please make sure you read these carefully.
Replying to your offer
You should reply to your offers through UCAS Track. You do not need to reply to any offers until all of the universities or colleges you applied to have notified you of their decisions. You can find out more about the different replies you can make, and when you need to do this, on the UCAS website.
This is your first choice and if you meet the entry requirements specified in your offer, your place is confirmed. Please note that there are some courses within the health professions which will require additional conditions to be fulfilled once you have met any academic conditions. These are things like a DBS and Health check. You will be given more information about this once you have met your academic conditions.
This is your backup choice, in case you do not meet the entry requirements of your first choice. It’s a good idea to choose an offer with lower requirements as an insurance choice.
Once you have decided on a firm and insurance choice, you will automatically decline all other offers.
Applicant Visit Days
Our Applicant Visit Days give offer-holders a real flavour of what life is like as a Salford undergraduate student.
Once you have applied, if you receive an offer to study with us, you’ll be sent an email invitation to book onto one of these days. They’re held here at the University on Wednesdays and Saturdays and you can find more information, including the date for your course, on our Applicant Visit Day page.
Key dates and deadlines
|19 May 2020||If you’ve heard back from all of the universities you have applied to by 31 March 2020, you must choose your firm and insurance choices by 19 May.|

After applying, you should start thinking about student finance. You can see what finance is available to you using this online calculator. You can apply for student finance even if you’ve not accepted any of your offers yet.
The deadline for Student Finance England is 22 May 2020; any applicant applying for funding from Northern Ireland, Scotland or Wales should check with the relevant funding body for a confirmed deadline date.

Wellbeing and support
Your university days can be the most exciting time of your life, but they can also be challenging. Whatever your personal circumstances, we want to make your Salford experience a positive one, which is why we've created a dedicated, specialist support service, askUS.
askUS can offer you help and advice on a wide range of issues, including wellbeing and counselling, disability support, money and finances, accommodation, faith, carer support and more.
If you have a disability, mental health condition or if you think you might need emotional support while you're at university, it's important that you have support in place before you start. If you need support, we need to know about it as early as possible, so we can help you whenever you may need it.
Applying for student accommodation
If you've been offered a place to study with us, another important decision you'll make is where you're going to live. If you’d like to live in student accommodation, we have two accommodation options for you to choose from: Peel Park Quarter, and John Lester and Eddie Colman courts, and both are managed by our accommodation partners Campus Living Villages (CLV).
If you’d prefer to live off-campus or will be commuting from home, we can also support and advise you to ensure you're getting the most out of your time studying with us.
