Major research funders have their own policies on research data sharing and management. Depending on who is funding your research there are various expectations you will be required to meet.

UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) have agreedĀ Common Principles on Data Research. These principles form the basis of many of the funder data policies; one of which states that "publicly funded research data are a public good, produced in the public interest, which should be made openly available with as few restrictions as possible in a timely and responsible manner." Further information can be found in the guidance documentation.

The Digital Curation Centre has a summary of data policies for various funders.

Select your funder from the list below for more information about their requirements. You should also consult individual data policies relevant to your research. Please check with the Research & Enterprise Development Team if you are unsure about the policies for a particular funder/scheme.
