The Library

The Library work in partnership with our academic staff to deliver flexible services that enhance our students’ experience and enables them to thrive while studying at Salford. The Library is a bustling 24-hour operation where learning is at the core of everything. Yes, there are books, archives and DVDs, but so much more! Our library is the beating heart of campus life: spaces for learning and collaboration, friendly faces, specialist knowhow, and a virtual hub for knowledge and discovery.

They deliver a wide range of services to support students on their individual journeys. They engage with our students in a creative customer led, flexible and innovative way, whilst anticipating and responding to the needs of our diverse community.

Customer Services

The Customer Services team is responsible for the administrative processes that support student registration, graduation, certificate and transcript production, and the administration of tuition fees. Our friendly Customer Services team also provide a front facing service to all students in the askUS referral lounge in University House and manage student enquiries.

Working closely with colleagues from across the University and external partners, the team are accountable for a broad range of campus focused infrastructure and operations that support and enhance the experience of our diverse student community and allows students to maximise their time with us.   

The Quality Management Office

The Quality Management Office provides central support within the University for the assurance and enhancement of the quality and standards of the University’s awards. The team supports key strategic aims in academic improvement, growth and diversification, and internationalisation. The team’s role is to ensure that quality assurance policies and procedures are robust and effective in maintaining and monitoring the standards of academic awards, and to support the enhancement of the student learning experience.

Estates and Facilities

New SEE Building

Our Estates and Facilities team lead the development of our campus, creating engaging and innovative learning, working and living environments for colleagues, students, and partners. The Directorate has over 300 employees and works with a wide range of external contractors.

The services arm of the Directorate is responsible for delivering full estates and facilities management to the University, including capital development, property maintenance, cleaning, security, caretaking and landscaping. Covering 33 buildings across the estate, split currently across 5 sites.

Led by the Estates and Facilities team, the University is undergoing a transformation to deliver its Campus Masterplan. Together with Salford City Council and The English Cities Fund, there will be an investment of £2.5bn over the next 20-years, as part of the Crescent regeneration programme. This investment will transform our campus and create a new city district that will bring together industry, education and innovation, providing new spaces for teaching, innovation, commercial, residential, green space and sustainable travel.

Our Finance Department is responsible for the overall financial management of the institution and its subsidiaries. The department is made up of a team of 70 staff and provides a full range of financial services to the University. The Finance team work closely with Academic Units and Professional Services to maximise opportunities and ensure financial sustainability.

Our Human Resources Directorate is the University’s people team. They manage everything from recruitment, onboarding and induction, people policies, right through to development, wellbeing, reward and benefits, and change management. They lead on shaping the overall colleague experience – ensuring an inclusive workplace with a sense of belonging, where colleagues are valued and supported to be at their best.

International and Regional Development Directorate

Salford Languages - a top 10 UK University English Language Centre

The International and Regional Development Directorate is fundamental to the delivery of the University’s internationalisation strategy and ICZ (Industry Collaboration Zones) agenda. The Directorate includes Degree Apprenticeships, UK and International Partnerships, the International Office, Salford Languages, Enterprise and the ICZ support team.

Salford Languages is a centre of international study and language learning, offering a range of British Council-accredited English language courses and foreign language programmes to current and prospective University of Salford students. 

LTEC Learning and Teaching Enhancement Centre

Our Learning and Teaching Enhancement Centre work with our academic schools to embed changes and enhancements to practice. Their role is to support and inspire educators and facilitate change through action. LTEC is led by a senior academic and supported by a broad range of professionals with a proven track record of excellence in learning, teaching and assessment. The Centre is an enabler to inform and change practice and to communicate successes, bringing Salford to the forefront as a sector leader.

Marketing, Recruitment and External Relations

Our Marketing, Recruitment and External Relations team are responsible for the core range of activities that promote and engage with our external environment and stakeholders. This includes both prospective and current students, businesses and our local community. Made up of Marketing and Communications, Student Recruitment and Outreach and External Relations teams, we work together to plan and deliver key activities that support the University’s ambitions for growth, diversity and an increased profile. They also provide marketing expertise to colleagues and support events, corporate projects and new initiatives across the University.

Our Research and Knowledge Exchange team provide support for our colleagues in pursuit of research and enterprise activity, growth in research and enterprise income, and performance in the REF and KEF. Our delivery supports our ambitions to grow industry engagement and income, enhance the student experience, develop world class research, produce real-world impact, and develop a vibrant community of high-quality researchers and enterprising staff.  The team work to support the development of a pervasive research and enterprise culture, through an environment of continuous improvement and excellent customer service, enhancing our industry collaboration activities and driving enterprise, research and growth.   

The Vice-Chancellor’s Office

The Vice-Chancellor’s Office is made up of the Vice-Chancellor’s Executive Team, the team responsible for the overall strategic direction of the University, and the Vice-Chancellor’s Executive Support Team.

The Vice-Chancellor’s Executive Support Team provide executive administrative support to VCET and private secretarial support to the Chair of Council. The team provide first class executive administrative support and hold themselves to the highest of standards, promoting excellence in delivery.
