What will happen at the Open Day?

By coming to an open day you’ll get a real sense of what studying at the University of Salford is like. You’ll get to take part in course talks, learn more in Q&As with our students, tour our beautiful green campus, and more. You'll also get to see accommodation, meet teaching and support staff, find out how to fund your studies, and learn about settling into student life.

Our open days take place across our three campuses in Salford, giving you the chance to explore our facilities in person, while getting a real feel for what student life can offer.

We will be available on check-in desks throughout the day if you have any questions about how to apply. We also offer sessions to help you understand more about UCAS, writing your personal statement, and give hints and tips about applying.

Our open days run from 10:00 to 16:00 and to make the most of the event, we recommend you come for the full day. Our course talks run twice, so if you want to hear about more than one, a 10:00 arrival is best.

Campus tours

We're proud of our campus and during open days, a team of student ambassadors lead tours throughout the day. Check out the video below to see what you can expect.

Outside of our open days we're also holding a series of campus tours. Learn more about these events and book your place today.

Our location

There are many things that make us unique, but our location is one of the things that really sets us apart.

We're based in the vibrant and diverse city of Salford, in the heart of England’s north west – right next to our neighbour, Manchester.

Our main campus, Peel Park, offers the best of both worlds: state-of-the-art learning facilities set against beautiful green space, within twenty minutes’ walk of the centre of Manchester. We’re also the only university with a campus at MediaCity. Its stunning waterfront location at Salford Quays is also home to TV, digital and creative organisations like the BBC and ITV.

When lectures finish, you don’t need to look hard to find exciting culture, sport, shopping, food and nightlife experiences right on your doorstep here in Salford. And when you’re ready to explore Manchester, getting there couldn’t be easier – it’s just a short trip by foot or on public transport, with Salford Crescent station at the heart of our campus.

Are all courses represented at open days?

Our open days are your chance to get more information about the courses taught on our campus.

If you’re applying for Adult Nursing with First Year Taught at Bury College, you’re welcome to come along to our open day to find out more about where you’ll be studying from second year onwards.

Can family and friends join me?

Of course! Choosing a university is a big decision, so we’d absolutely encourage anyone who is supporting you to get involved and join you on the open day.

Please be aware that we may need to limit the number of additional guests who accompany you to certain sessions on the day.

Do you have support for students with a disability?

You can let us know about your access requirements when you book onto our open days. We’ll then work with you to do everything we can to support you. You will also be able to have a one-to-one appointment with our disability inclusion service on the day.

If you would like to check our campus for its accessibility, we have worked closely with AccessAble (the leading provider of access information for disabled people in the UK) to produce an assessment of our campus and facilities. This work has provided detailed information about our access; find out more about their assessment of our campus and facilities.

Find out more about accessibility on campus or contact us on enquiries@salford.ac.uk.

Please contact our disability inclusion service for study related support.

Open day travel bursary

We offer a travel bursary to help with the cost of attending our open days. This is based on how far you’re travelling, and there are five different payment bands. The minimum amount is £15 for those with a shorter journey. The maximum contribution is £120 for those travelling from further afield. Please note that payment is made to the prospective student only, not for each person attending the event.

We know that the cost of living is having widespread impact, and our open day travel bursary scheme aims to make a contribution to the cost of your travel, rather than cover your costs entirely. We will provide more information about how it all works a little closer to the event.

You will need a UK bank account to receive a travel bursary payment.
