At the University of Salford, we put your fees back into into building and maintaining our industry-standard facilities. We also employ leading researchers to teach on our courses, helping you become an expert in your chosen field.
Tuition fees
Tuition fees vary according to the course and type of study you choose. They can be paid in full or in instalments.
As the UK has now left the European Union, students from the EU will need to pay the international fee rate. Tuition fees differ by course, so please see the relevant course page on our website for more details.
The government has confirmed that this change won't apply to Irish nationals living in the UK and Ireland whose right to study and to access benefits and services will be preserved on a reciprocal basis for UK and Irish nationals under the Common Travel Area arrangement.

Postgraduate loans
If you're a home student and want to study a master’s degree, you may be entitled to a government-backed loan of up to £12,167 (for those starting their degree after August 2023).

Loyalty discount
If you’re a University of Salford graduate, your postgraduate tuition fees could be discounted by 20%. Discounts apply for UK or international students who’ve studied a level 6 (BA (Hons), BSc (Hons), BEng (Hons), LLB (Hons), MChem, MEnv, MPhys or Grad Dip), level 7 (master’s) or level 8 (doctoral) course with us. Donor funded scholarships and bursaries
It is through the generosity of our alumni, friends and industry partners that we are able to provide a number of donor-funded scholarships and bursaries for University of Salford students who would otherwise find it challenging to fund their studies.
There are a range of scholarships and bursaries available, at a University-wide level, as well as specific to schools and subject areas, supporting talented students who may need additional financial aid to support their time at Salford.
Data Science Scholarships
For September 2024 entry, we’re offering scholarships worth £10,000 each to eligible students on one of our two postgraduate Data Science conversion courses; MSc Data Science and MSc Internet of Things with Data Science.
Funded by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology and Office for Artificial Intelligence, the scholarships are designed to increase diversity in the AI and data science sector and to support students from underrepresented groups to access, participate and succeed in higher education.
Students who successfully apply for a scholarship will receive £10,000 to help with course fees, and associated costs such as living costs, childcare and transport. Scholarships will be paid out in three regular intervals across the duration of course.
What is a conversion course?
Our conversion courses are specifically structured to support graduates who may not have studied computer science or an associated STEM subject. They provide students with the practical knowledge and industry experience required to start a career in AI and data science – a key skills shortage in the UK.
Who can apply?
Scholarships are available to UK students with home fee status, who are a member of one or more of the following underrepresented groups (priority will be given to the first four groups):
- Women
- Black students
- Disabled students
- Students from lower socio-economic backgrounds - POLAR quintiles 1 and 2, low household income (household income of less than £25,000, or students who were in receipt of financial support whilst studying at college)
- Students who have been in care
- Students estranged from their parents or guardians
- Gypsy, Roma, Traveller students
- Refugees
- Children from military families, veterans and partners of military personnel

How do I apply?
To apply for the scholarship, please complete the online application form.
As there are limited scholarships available, we encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible.
Scholarships will be awarded to applicants who have successfully applied for MSc Data Science or MSc Internet of Things with Data Science and meet the eligibility criteria.

If you want to earn some extra cash while you’re studying, you can access a range of suitable roles at our on-campus branch of Unitemps. When you’re on a master’s course it’s important to find the right balance between work and study, so if you’re thinking of getting a part-time job, speak to your personal tutor to find out how much time you’ll need to dedicate to your studies.
