Teaching quality on our physics programmes is recognised to be of outstanding quality. Physics was awarded a score of 23/24 points for teaching quality in the last official UK University Subject Review by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education. In NSS 2019, over 91% of surveyed students were satisfied with the teaching quality on our BSc (Hons) Physics course.

The strength of our teaching quality is enhanced by our research-led approach. Physics courses at Salford are informed by the internationally renowned theoretical and applied research undertaken by Physics staff who lead research groups at our Materials and Physics Research Centre.

We have some great facilities to help you get to grips with Physics and you'll spend plenty of time in our specialist laboratories.

Our Joule Physics Laboratories include a purpose-built suite of large, open-space teaching laboratories. We also provide dedicated teaching spaces and specialist laboratories for electronics, optics, lasers, computing and composite materials.
