Our construction courses are extensively informed by collaboration with partners from the built environment. Our experienced teaching team maintain strong links with the architecture, engineering and construction sectors, both local and international. You'll benefit from site visits, practitioner-led lectures and real-world problem-solving activities developed with input from industry.

Our impressive facilities include Think Lab, a futuristic research environment used for smart city applications, industry collaborations, and interactive learning. Salford is also home to Energy House – the only fully climate-controlled research facility of its kind in the world. This full-sized two bedroom terraced house is based inside an environmental chamber that can replicate varying weather conditions. It is packed with an array of sensors that provide vital data for researchers and industry professionals.

Industry-driven approach

Combining work and study is one of the best ways to build knowledge and skills in construction. We offer our construction degree courses in a range of flexible pathways, so you can apply your learning in a real-world context. Full-time students can also add an optional placement year between years two and three to gain essential industry experience and align for job opportunities once graduated.

Construction Project Management students will also have the opportunity take part in Constructionarium, a week long residential field trip where, working alongside other students, you’ll construct scaled-down versions of iconic bridges, buildings, dams and civil engineering projects from around the world, supported by both academic and industrial staff to work in a real-world environment.
