Engineering students will find they spend a lot of time in our specialist laboratories and facilities. In recent years, we've invested in our buildings, facilities and industry-standard equipment - and more is on the way. 

During your studies, you'll have the opportunity to work in a hands-on environment, gaining experience in surveying, water quality, transport resource, geotechnics, hydraulics and both light and heavy structures. These professional facilities allow you to put your learning into practice and build practical knowledge to take into your career.

All undergraduate civil engineering courses are accredited by the Joint Board of Moderators (JBM) which is formed from the leading Civil Engineering Institutions (ICE / IStructE / CIHT / IHE). Salford graduates also benefit from our Eur-ACE accredited programmes. This means that, with a degree from us, you can practice as an engineer anywhere in Europe, not just in the UK.

As part of your course, you will also take part in Constructionarium, a week long residential field trip where, working alongside other students, you’ll construct scaled-down versions of iconic bridges, buildings, dams and civil engineering projects from around the world, supported by both academic and industrial staff to work in a real-world environment.
