A message from Executive Dean, Margaret Rowe

Margaret Rowe

We are one of the one of the largest providers of nursing, midwifery and allied health professional education programmes in the UK, known for our track record of collaborating with a wide range of industry partners across health and social care to produce highly skilled graduates with real work experience.

We are also experts in the social sciences sector and are known locally, regionally, nationally and internationally for our applied research into the interface between health, wellbeing, housing, criminal justice and social care. We effect social and cultural change through research-informed engagement and practice. Our sports and exercise academics work with a broad range of leading sports clubs, teams and industry partners to deliver excellent research and learning experiences.

Salford has a rich history and an exciting future; we sit at the heart of the Northern Powerhouse and actively engage with stakeholders across the region to address the health outcomes arising from the devolution of power to Greater Manchester’s local authorities. We have always been committed to addressing the needs and aspirations of our local community and beyond. Our focus is to work with industry across the North West to ensure our students are given opportunities to integrate their learning with real world experience.

We offer a terrific range of courses from undergraduate to postgraduate and doctorate programmes. Our academics are innovative, experienced and passionate about their subject area and really want to support our students in developing their ability and skills over the years they are with us. Our students identify with satisfaction surveys, high quality teaching and support by highly skilled academics and professionals.

We have some brilliant facilities across health and social work, psychology and sports and exercise sciences, including our simulation suites and human performance laboratory. These facilities allow you to experience real life scenarios in a safe environment to ensure you are fully competent practitioners going forward into the world of work.

We focus on the employability of our students from the moment they start with us. We want to ensure our graduates are fully prepared for the world of work and our partnerships across the NHS and local authorities allow students to take part in innovative placements and put theory into practice. The undergraduate subjects in tour school have some of the highest employability rates in the country. We have a wealth of placements regionally, nationally and internationally, allowing our students to develop their international links and gain experience of different cultures and practices.

As Dean it is a privilege to lead a school with dedicated, passionate, motivated staff and such bright and enthusiastic students. We hope you find everything you are looking for here at Salford and look forward to supporting you in your future career.
