Salford Alternative Entry Scheme

At the University of Salford, we believe that everyone has the right to a good education.

If you have been out of education for a while, want to further your career, or simply want to study in a field that you’re passionate about, then the Salford Alternative Entry Scheme (SAES) could be for you.

About the scheme

The scheme allows those who are interested in studying an undergraduate degree, but who may not meet the specific requirements, the chance to study with us. Perhaps you’re a mature student who has been out of education for some time, but have relevant work experience.

Applicants for the Salford Alternative Entry Scheme are recommended on the basis of their application submitted through UCAS. If you have been recommended, you will be notified either through UCAS or by our Admissions team.

If you have any questions about your UCAS application, please contact the course enquiries team at enquiries@salford.ac.uk.

Entry routes

Accreditation for Prior Learning (APL)

APL is used for courses across all schools. If you are made an offer, you’ll be notified about what you need to do next to proceed with this route.

APL allows us to consider students who may not have the traditional entry criteria, but do have relevant experience or the ability to pursue the course successfully. Assessment may consider employer references, previous coursework/examinations or a portfolio of your work.

If you have any questions about the APL route, please contact Ruth Potts at r.potts@salford.ac.uk.
