Salford and Ukraine

Salford's international students outside Peel building

As one of our students, you don't just become a member of a student body, you will join our community. You will be taught by experts in their field who pride themselves on their links with industry. We are a campus-based university located a short distance from Manchester: a thriving international hub with vibrant nightlife, historic buildings and a welcoming student scene. Our statement on the invasion of Ukraine

The University of Salford, along with Universities UK, unequivocally condemn the appalling decision of the Russian Government to invade Ukraine. We express our sincere support for Ukrainian universities, staff, and students.

You can read a statement from our Vice-Chancellor Professor Helen Marshall about how we will support those affected by the Ukraine crisis.

Our primary focus is on supporting Ukrainian staff and students currently in the UK, and how we can support those fleeing the conflict. We are also mindful of the impact this is having on our Russian staff and students, many of whom oppose this conflict.

Our current students can access support from us in the following ways:

  • askUS - can provide emotional support through wellbeing and counselling services.
  • askUS - can also provide advice if you are struggling with your finances.
  • We offer various ways to support you if you are struggling with your academic work. You can find information about this support on the Student Hub.
  • The University of Salford Students' Union also offers wellbeing support. This includes Rafiki, a support listening service delivered by students, for students. You can find lots of resources on the Salford Students website.

As a member of Universities UK, we are also working with our partners across the sector to find other ways to support Ukrainian Universities, staff, and students. You can find more about this from Universities UK.
