Field trips and placements
Fieldwork and practical placements encourage and prepare you for the application of scientific method and technique in the real world. They are pivotal to our courses and to the development of the skills you will need after graduation.
Field trips
Depending on what you choose to study in the School, field trips will vary. They can range from day trips to the Peak District or the Yorkshire Dales, to residential field courses in the Lake District and Wales, to international locations previously including Scandinavia, the Alps and Brazil. Most of our field trips are free whilst others are heavily subsidised by the School and you will be made aware of all costs before committing to a field trip.

Placements
Most of our courses offer you the opportunity to complete a year in industry after the second year of your degree or you can opt to complete a shorter placement or internship over the summer. Due to our strong relationships with industry, the University of Salford has secured a range of research and training opportunities with leading companies and research institutes.
