In a nutshell
The Associate Project Manager Level 4 Apprenticeship will provide you with the knowledge, skills and behaviours required by individuals who work as management either within professional services firms, small and medium sized generalist consulting organisations, boutique consultancies and internal management consulting services. This apprenticeship is designed as an entry level role into the Project Management profession. This programme also incorporates the Level D Associate Project Management qualification.
The degree apprenticeship route will allow you to work and study for your degree at the same time meaning you will have a minimum of two years’ work experience upon graduation. Your employer and/or the government will pay your tuition fees for your apprenticeship programme and you will be earning a salary at the same time.

All about the course
You will study a core curriculum that focuses on how organisations function and the role of the associate project manager within an organisation.
There are two distinct components to the degree apprenticeship – the academic degree programme and the work-based assessment. The University – as lead provider – is responsible for delivering the degree programme. The employer is responsible for delivering the work-based assessment components. The University and employer work closely with each other to:

To ensure that the standards and practices required to meet the professional competencies contained in the apprenticeship standard are adequately evidenced by you
This module will allow you to place Project Management in context and discuss how it relates to the rest of the Organisational Functions and the internal and external business environment. You will develop a systematic understanding of the principles of project management and its diverse application in a number of public and private industrial contexts
Principles of Marketing
This module provides an introduction to key foundational aspects of the theory and practice of marketing, which are essential to the long term prosperity of organisations and applicable to all specialisations within business. It will enable students to apply marketing principles to real life marketing situations.
Principles of Accounting
This module will provide a practical introduction to accounting and its role in the management of organisations and will introduce students to the main financial statements produced by organisations for external bodies.
Principles of Human Resource Management
This module will provide an insight into the distinct contribution of Human Resource Management policy and practice to employee and organisational performance and success within a UK and international comparative context. It will allow you to develop an understanding of the inter-relationship between the dynamic nature of social relationships within a range of organisations, the broader external environment, and the effective management of human resources and employment relations.
Work Based Project
This module will enable you to make explicit the link between theory and work-based practice and to allow you to develop as reflective practitioners. This will be done as a project based on a work-based issue/problem in your workplace.
Please note that it may not be possible to deliver the full list of options every year as this will depend on factors such as how many students choose a particular option. Exact modules may also vary in order to keep content current. When accepting your offer of a place to study on this programme, you should be aware that not all optional modules will be running each year. Your tutor will be able to advise you as to the available options on or before the start of the programme. Whilst the University tries to ensure that you are able to undertake your preferred options, it cannot guarantee this.
What about after uni?
Upon graduation you will hold the CertHE Project Management Consultancy certificate as well as the Level D APM professional qualification. You may continue to progress with your employer or move to another employer to develop your career.
WHICH QUALIFICATIONS DO I NEED?
You must be employed and individual employers will set the selection criteria for their Apprenticeships. Academically, students registering to the programme will need to meet the relevant entry criteria.
Upon successful completion of the course you will achieve the FdSc Project Management Consultancy. In addition you will receive the Level D APM professional qualification.
Each application will be considered carefully and judged on its own merits.

GCSE- minimum five grades A-C with Grade C or above at GCSE in both Mathematics and English. Functional Skills Level 2 also accepted.
The total cost of this apprenticeship is £6,000. The cost of the apprenticeship will be covered by your employer and/or the government. You will need to cover the cost of any study materials plus travel to and from campus if required.
The apprenticeship levy was introduced in April 2017 and requires all employers operating in the UK, with a pay bill of over £3 million each year to invest in apprenticeships.
The funding policy supports the changes to the way apprenticeships in England are paid for, underpinned by the apprenticeship levy of 0.5% of the annual pay bill for companies paying over £3 million per year.
There is also a co-investment model for companies who will not be paying into the levy. The government will cover 95% of the cost of the apprenticeship and the employer will only have to contribute the remaining 5%. Once payments have been declared to HMRC, employers will now have access to a digital apprenticeship account from which they will be able to access funding to pay for apprenticeship training.
