Arts And Media
The School of Arts and Media offers a range of industry standard facilities across our MediaCityUK and New Adelphi sites.
MediaCityUK is at the heart of the UK's media and digital industries. Our students and researchers have access to a range of facilities including: state-of-the-art TV and radio studios, craft edit suites, audio production suites and a journalism centre.
New Adelphi is home to music, performance, art, design and architecture subjects, providing a rich environment for creativity, arts and culture. Facilities include: a 350 capacity theatre, screen acting studios, voice acting studios, specialist workshops, photography studios, recording studios and a large gallery space.
Salford Business School
Salford Business School is based in the Lady Hale and Chapman buildings at the heart of Peel Park campus. Chapman is a stylish, modern space with six lecture theatres. Lady Hale is home to the Business School's employability hub and has several open study spaces. If you're interested in financial trading, you can get experience, improve your analytical skills and practice financial decision making in our Bloomberg Trading Suite.
Open-plan architecture studios and high specification workshops provide an inspiring space for students and researchers to develop ideas, work collaboratively and share best practice.
Our futuristic research environment, THINKlab, leads research in advanced technology platforms for smart city applications, collaborative engineering, collaboration environments, serious game applications, and interactive learning and training.
The Energy House is the only full-scale building in an environmental chamber in Europe, and the only full-scale brick-built test facility in a controlled environment in the world. This unique testing environment supports leading academics, researchers and industry to conduct scientific research to improve the energy efficiency of challenging properties.
Environment And Life Sciences
Our state-of-the-art, integrated teaching laboratory, known as the Bodmer Lab, is a specialist, purpose-built facility that ensures our students and researchers benefit from the latest technologies and remain on the cutting edge of innovation and discovery.
The Bodmer Lab features industry standard instrumentation including cell culture facilities, FACS, MALDI-TOF, LC and GC mass spectrometry, FTIR and FTNMR spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy and microscopy, and scanning electron microscopy. Having access to industry standard technology means that our students are fully equipped to enter the workplace when they graduate, and our researchers have the tools they need to further their careers in academia.
Health And Society
The School of Health and Society is home to state-of-the-art facilities that enable students to develop their skills under the supervision of qualified practitioners, and researchers to pursue their area of study. Facilities include: a clinical gait analysis laboratory, counselling and psychotherapy suites, a human performance laboratory, a podiatry clinic, a prosthetics and orthotics laboratory, state-of-the-art simulation suites and a sports injury clinic.
Computing, Science And Engineering
A range of high-quality facilities are available to students and researchers in our School of Computing, Science and Engineering.
Our engineering facilities include specialist labs for: aerodynamics; composite materials; control and dynamics; spray research; petroleum and gas; electronic; mechanical; and civil and structural engineering. We also have a flight simulator and an elite flight training system, which is certified by the Civil Aviation Authority as an FNPT II-MCC multi-crew training environment.
Our Cisco Networking laboratories at MediaCityUK are used by students and researchers in mathematics, computing and physics. Physics students and researchers also use our electronics, optics, laser, computing and composite materials laboratories.
Our acoustics facilities include an anechoic chamber, semi-anechoic chamber, reverberation chamber, transmission chamber, acoustically treated recording studios, listening room, and a number of specialist laboratories including a UKAS-accredited Calibration Laboratory, which provides a full-scale commercial use to industry.
